Chris's top priorities for North Cowichan.

North Cowichan Mayoral Candidate · 2026

Hi, I'm Chris.

Like many people in North Cowichan, I care deeply about the future of this community. This is where I’ve lived for over 25 years. It’s where my sons were born. It’s where I’ve built my business relationships, where I’ve coached and supported local business owners, and where I’ve spent years listening to people talk honestly about what’s working…and what isn’t. Over the last few years I’ve become increasingly concerned about the direction and tone of leadership in our community. Not from a partisan perspective, but from a practical one. People want more than ever to feel listened to. And people want a community that feels safe, well-run, financially responsible, respectful, forward-looking, and connected. They want leadership that can bring people together, make thoughtful decisions, communicate clearly, and focus on real-world outcomes instead of division, ideology, or political theatre. That’s a big part of why I’m running. Professionally, I’ve spent much of my career helping business owners and leadership teams navigate pressure, uncertainty, growth, conflict, and decision-making. My work has always centered around helping people create more clarity, accountability, trust, and long-term thinking…especially during difficult seasons. I’ve worked with leaders across many industries, served on community boards, facilitated leadership groups, and spent years studying what helps organizations and teams function well, and what causes them to break down. I’m not running because I see myself as a politician. I’m running because I believe North Cowichan is at a pivotal moment, and I believe strong, steady, community-minded leadership matters right now. We are facing real issues: economic uncertainty, affordability pressures, public safety concerns, community division, infrastructure demands, housing challenges, how to facilitate responsible growth, and the long-term future of our local economy and our collective community identity. These issues require more than slogans or ideology. They require balanced thinking, respectful collaboration, fiscal responsibility, and the ability to make difficult decisions thoughtfully and calmly. I also believe many residents are tired of conflict, polarization, and politics becoming more about sides than solutions. My approach is simple: listen carefully, think long-term, communicate honestly, and focus on practical leadership that serves the broader community. I don’t pretend to have every answer. But I do believe leadership matters, tone matters, and how we work together matters. North Cowichan has incredible people, strong community roots, and enormous potential. I want to help build a future that reflects the best of this community…one that is resilient, respectful, economically strong, and a place people are proud to call home. Not just a nice place to live… a great place to build a life.
